Mantra: Rig 4.16.2
dvou sannishadhya yanmantrayEtE
rAjA tadvEda varuNastritIyaH
Meaning:
Speaks abou the omnipresence of sachidananda
Even if two people discuss something in absolute secrecy, the third person (sachidananda) already knows it
If we chant this Mantra, we get the feeling and know that God is in us always. Then, the possibility of us doing something wrong becomes lesser.
Today, we fear to tell a lie in a place of worship. When we are outside we don't feel His presence. This Mantra teaches us that there are no boundaries for this god.
yanmantrayEtE = yat + mantrayEtE
tadvEda = tat + veda
varuNastritIyaH = varuNaH + tritIyaH
dvou sannishadhya = two people discuss
yanmantrayEtE = about which mantra
varuNaH = one worthy of choosing (Root: vrinj ....) = sachidananda
rAjA = (Root: rajru deeptou = that which shines) lustrous = sachidananda
tritIyaH = the third person (already knows).
vEdA = (Roots: vidh gnyAnE, vidh vichAraNE, vidhurlu lAbhE, vidh sattAyAm)
mantra = manana iti mantraH
sannishadhya = shadhulru visharaNE = to sit, to settle, to spread
Mantra Yajur: 3.35
DhiyO yOnaH prachOtayAt
Meaning:
Whatever thoughts we have, you (Sachidananda) motivate and guide us
This is part of Savitri mantra. Not gayathri mantra. Becausse the subject matter is savittr
savittr = shu prEraNE = that which motivates us
It is in the meter Gayathri = Gayathri chandas = 8 letters and 3 lines. 8x3=24.
That is why it is famous as Gayathri Mantra. Based on the Chandas.
dhiyaH = prajnyA karmANaH = thoughts
yaH dhiyaH = whatever thoughts
prachOtayAt = as you direct us
How does sachidananda guide us? It gives us flashes internally. This happens through our conscience.
Q. Should this Mantra be a secret.
A. No. Because...
naH = plural form of asmad shabdaH dvitiiya vibhakti bahu vachanam
since naH is in plural form, it is clear that it should be chanted as a group. not as one person.
even if you are chanting it alone, you should have a feeling that you are doing it as a community.
Also, the word dhImahi is also in plural form. also indicates that a group chants this.
Also... when should we be secretive? When we do something wrong. When we do something good/right, why is there secrecy? People who say it should be secretive, they don't understand the vedas. Nowhere in the vEda samhita bhAga, does it say that it should be secretive.
This misconception is because of the puraaNaas. It is in the puraaNaas that we hear no women, no shUdraas, etc.
Mantra: Yajur 26.2
imaam vaacham kalyaaNiim aavadaani janEbyaH
Meaning:
these auspicious words are for all people. irrespective of
janEbhyaH = all people
prachOtayAt = Root: shudh prEraNE = motivating, guiding
Yajur Veda = 2 versions. Shukla yajur veda and krishna yajur veda.
krishna yajur veda has the samhita bhaga and many brahmaNa bhaaga mixed. Thus is not a standard.
Shukla yajur veda is pure samhita bhaaga = the standard for yajur veda
Mantra: Yajur 26.3
Brahmna rajanyAbhyAm shUdrAyacha aryAyacha swAyachAraNAya
Meaning: These words are for all. For all varNanaas.
Mantra: Yajur 32.3
na tasya pratimA asti
Meaning:
There is nothing equal in measure to sachidananda. No idol.
This mantra is a clear prohibition of idol worship.
satchidananda is subtle knowledge. But knoweldge through sense organs is gross.
mA = maang maanE
pratimA = the one who is equal to is in all aspects. Also means idol.
asti = to exist.
na asti = does not exist
tasya = refers to sachidananda
Dayanand Saraswati's experience.
He was once in Kashi.
Side Note:
kaashi = Root: kaashru deeptou = luminous, lustrous
kaashi is a luminous place. luminosity is scholarly luminosity. i.e. lots of scholars in the area. center of knowledge.
He specifically wanted to tell them that vedas are not for idol worship. But there scholars are all for idol worship. A discussion was arranged. During the course of discussion, the scholars asked if there was any proof. Dayanand Saraswati quoted this Mantra (Yajur 32.3). but the scholars said it is proof that idol worship exists.
they said the mantra should be said as "natasya pratimaa asti".
natasya = that which you bow in front of. pratimaa asti
meaning, there is something you bow down in front of that is equal to pratima. and it is there (asti)
This problem is because different styles of chanting have developed. samhita paaTa, pada paaTa, prakurti and vikurti paaTa, ghana paaTa.
ghana paaTa = one who chants by..."
1 2 2 1 1 2 1 2 3 2 3 3 1 2 3 4
Dayanand Saraswati suggested they bring ghanapaatis and ask them to chant. They came, chanted, and the Mantra's true meaning was proved.
krishna and rama are mariyada purushottama
mariyada = border line (not respect)
Between any 2 people, if I respect the mariyada (borderline) and behave, the relationship flourishes.
rama and krishna were 100% aware of their mariyada and they behaved within the confines.
vaada = refuting.
vithanda vaada = you are wrong. but i don't know what is right. cynicism.
sadvaada = correct counter arguement. refuting. able to give an alternate explanation towards what is right.
